The Application and Interview Process

Treasure Valley Voices is always interested in welcoming new members. Joining Treasure Valley Voices is fairly simple:

• Contact us via , snail mail (2922 Pascoe Lane, Nampa, ID 83686) or phone (Larry Nielsen at 208-250-2586) to let us know that you're interested. We want you to tell us just a few things:

  • What church you attend
  • What you sing or play, along with a short description of your experience
  • Why you desire to be a part of Treasure Valley Voices
• After we review the information we've asked for above, you will be invited to sit in on a rehearsal so that you can see exactly what TVV is all about. We want you to know exactly what you're getting in to!
• After the rehearsal, you will have a short interview with the Director, a member of the Board and/or a section leader. During this interview we'll make sure that you understand the requirements of joining TVV, talk about your talents and commitment level, and talk about your Christian walk. You'll have a chance to ask questions and share with us your passion for music and worship.  The purpose of this interview is mostly just to get to know you, and make sure that you fit with our mission and purpose.  It's really not that big of a deal - don't let it scare you!
• We then will take a couple of days to review your application, talk about your interview and pray about having you join us. We will then either invite you to join TVV, or let you know why we think that TVV might not be the right ministry for you. Membership in Treasure Valley Voices is only by invitation through this process.

Membership Requirements

General Requirements

• You must be at least 18 years of age. No older than 140.
• You must be able to provide your own transportation to rehearsals and performances in the Treasure Valley (roughly Ontario on the west, far side of Boise on the east.)
• You must provide your own outfit. There are specifics provided elsewhere on the site for TVV members, but basically we ask everyone to wear combinations of black and red, in a modest and appropriate style.
• You must be able to attend regular rehearsals on the first and third Monday of each month from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. No child care is provided.
• Band/orchestra members may be required to attend rehearsals on the second (instead of the first) and third Monday of each month, depending on our rehearsal space.
• You must generally be available for performances. For 2010 we will only schedule performances on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon or evening, or Sunday afternoon or evening. These times were selected so that you may continue to participate in any ministries you are involved in at your own church without too much disruption. It is understood that sometimes there will be conflicts in scheduling, but we want you to make performances a priority. Performances will include call times 30 to 60 minutes before the scheduled performance time.
• You must regularly attend a local church, and hopefully be involved in the ministries of that church.
• You must sign a lifestyle statement affirming that you will live a Christ-centered lifestyle and abstain from abuse of alcohol, tobacco and drugs and sexual immorality.
• You must pay a $10 registration fee when you join TVV, and $25 annual dues for each calendar year you are a member. This money is to help defer the cost of our music and equipment.
